Merry Monday Santa Hats, and Jingle Belles Red & Green

Howdy and happy Sunday folks!  Also, Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, both those who are still with us, and those in the next life...miss you Dad!  I'm here today to share my latest Christmas card:
As my title suggests, I made this for Merry Monday, which is looking for Santa hats, and Jingle Belles, who are asking for creations containing red AND green.  On that note, I notice that the two smaller stars in my pic don't look as green as they look IRL, but I *swear* they are green!  This cutie Santa face is a Silhouette file, and although I made the fold on the wrong side, I'm still happy with it!  This guy did take some time to put together...I wish Silhouette would make it possible to enlarge the view of the finished product once it is purchased!
Some factoids about this card...
Cardstock:  all by Recollections, kraft, shimmer white, red, green, and light tan
Gold Star:  shimmer paper from Target
Rosy Cheeks:  Spun Sugar Distress Ink
Adhesive:  Tombow mono multi and Zig two way glue pen
Alrighty, time to get this linked up...and of couse this will be added to Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Extra, and Craftyhazelnut's Christmas (gold, silver, or both).

Thanks for having a look, and take care until next time...

Giving peace a chance...with the girls at Jingle Belles!

Stef and Lauren are looking for some peace this week at Jingle Belles
"We're asking you to incorporate a Peace Symbol or the word PEACE into your design ... or you can create a card that evokes Peace for you (make sure you explain what makes it PEACEful to you)."
Here is my PEACEful creation:
So on this card, I have used the word "peace" and also used a "peaceful", calm color scheme of Recollections champagne shimmer paper and a light brown from the Recollections Seaside paper pack.  I've never seen SU's Crumb Cake cardstock in person, but I think this color looks very similar to what I've seen online.  I don't know how visible it is in this pic, but I used Brilliance Moonlight White ink in the recessed areas of the embossed piece in the Belleek technique that Kittie Caracciolo of KittieKraft does so well.  I note that you also can't see the shimmer of the champagne shimmer paper either, but trust me IRL it looks gorgeous!  The sentiment from the Snowflake set from The Paper Company is stamped in the same ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I also inked the scalloped edges of the oval so they would stand out better from the same-colored background.
I'm also adding this card to the Festive Friday challenge, which is based on this gorgeous pic:
I chose to focus on this pillow:
which is so pretty!
Other challenges this will be added to:

Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Extra
Winter Wonderland:  No red or green
Christmas Stamping all Year Long:  Anything Goes
Completely Christmas:  Anything Goes

Make sure you keep checking out all the design team samples and entries in these challenges; they are not to be missed!
Until next time, take care...

The Merry Monday challenge I juuuuuust missed out on...

Well, as you can probably guess from my title, this post is going to show something I made for Merry Monday, but didn't quite get linked in time.  Here is said project:

Truth be told, I had this ornament completed and ready to blog about waaaaaay before the end of last week's challenge, BUT...laziness over the 3 day weekend musta had a hold on me, because I waited until about 2:30 EST before I even turned on my computer.  This would not be a problem if we didn't have the slowest. internet. EVER!!!  Of course, all things involved worked against me, and the pages wouldn't load before I could get linked up...talk about frustrated!

Anyway, I used the 2011 Heirloom ornament again (love this shape!), and a copy of an image from a vintage Christmas card we bought in a box at a sale some time ago.  I thought these angels were so pretty!  I used a piece of sheet music from an old hymnal (also bought at a sale) on this side, and a piece of pink, white and green patterned paper on the other side.  The gold paper of the scalloped oval and poinsettia, and the silver of the ornament topper are shimmery paper that Target sold a few years ago in their stationary dept.  The edges are inked with one of the lighter colored Distress Inks...Antique Linen maybe?

That's about all there is to this ornament!  Thanks for visiting, and have a great day!

Take care until next time,

Merry Monday #110, WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY before the deadline (this time!)

This week at Merry Monday, the challenge is for food!
Well, I'm all about that!  Too much, unfortunately...but I digress.  Here is my contribution for the linky:

I have gotta say that I LOOOOOOVE my Silhouette Cameo, simply for the fact that I can cut the shape of ANYTHING I WANT!!!  It took me some time and YouTube watching to get the process down, but MAN is it cool!!  Now I just need to get my stamping straight on my "die cut" pieces....lol!
The gingerbread house and sentiment are from a set called Sweet Christmas, but I forget the manufacturer at this moment in time...the diagonally- striped folder is from Darice, the black ink is Versafine Onyx Black (love this ink, wish I'd found it sooner!), and the purple ink is from Studio G.  The panel behind the embossed piece is shimmer cardstock from DCWV, although you can't tell it in the pic!
Well, gonna get this baby linked up!  WOOHOO!  Take care until then..

Card sharing, May 20, 2014

I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday evening!  Things are pretty fine here in PA...cloudy, but decent temp-wise.  I wanted to share some cards I've made recently:

The top card was commissioned by a coworker for her husband.  He's been feeling a bit down lately, and she wanted a card to cheer him up.  The outside looks all unsuspecting and mushy-like, but on the inside is a cupcake stamp and the words, "more than cake."  LOL  Let's just say my coworker really likes cake!  (me too!)  The green card was made for my "sista from another mista", as she puts it, for her birthday this past Sunday.  I was able to cut the butterfly with my Silhouette, which pleased me to no end!!!

The rainbow card was for a co worker's birthday in early April.  I made the rainbow with oval Nestabilities, glued together and cut in half.  To add the glitter, I used an adhesive sheet, burnished the glitter, and then set it with hairspray.  Since I didn't have room to include the purple on the rainbow, I used purple ink for the sentient.

That's all I have for this evening...maybe I'll have time to check out a challenge or two and plan some cards before bed.  Until next time...

Take Care,

~Marie~

Hello....again! :)

If any of you read my post from last night, you'll know that I had intended to post a card at that time, but couldn't due to stupidity...lol!  Well, this evening I'm back to actually post the card!  Here it is:

I sent this card to my friend and blogging buddy Darnell a week or so ago.  We have agreed to send cards to each other throughout the year...so far she's up 3 to 1!  I publicly apologize for that Darnell....I have been a bad, bad crafter since I started my new job!  Hopefully I can get that remedied soon.

Anyhow, back to the card...I had the idea for this in my head for several weeks before actually getting around to making it.  The "hello" is thanks to my *new* Silhouette Cameo, and a font I bought at the Silhouette store.  The rainbow behind the letters is vellum colored with PrismaColor markers.  I adhered the vellum with some thin foam tape for some slight dimension, and then mounted the white panel with thicker foam tape onto the card base.  All-in-all, I am super happy with this card, and I think Darnell likes it too!  I will definitely be doing similar cards in the future!

That's all I have for tonight...hopefully tomorrow, I can link you to Darnell's blog...for some reason @ Dunkin Donuts, I can't look at her site!  Take care until next time...

ETA:  All linked up to Darnell now!  :)

Hello!

I "thought" I was going to show you a card this evening, BUT it seems that the pics I took are on my HOME computer....I thought they were still on my camera's SD card.  That's what I get for thinking!  So I guess I'll  just peruse all of YOUR blogs, and see all your lovely creations.  So, until next time...TA TA!!
