CCAYR JULY, 2020 -- COOL IT!

Hello friends!  Welcome back to my blog.  Today I'm sharing my DT project for Christmas Crafts All Year Round's July prompt; Cool It!

I am quite happy with how this card turned out!  The border is Snowflake Frame from Bugaboo.  I printed it out on my laser printer with the original intention of coloring over it in light blues, but once I had it printed and die cut, I changed my mind and decided to foil it.  Boy, am I happy I did!  Check it out in this close up:

And that doesn't even really do it much justice.  The foil is holographic reactive foil from Heidi Swapp that I got on clearance at Michael's awhile back.  I only have a small roll, and I wish now that I had gotten more!  I ran it through my Scotch laminator 3 times; once right side up, then upside down, and then again right side up.  I think it covered the delicate image wonderfully...there are a few spots that were missed, but just glancing over it, you can't really tell.

The image I used is an actual wood and rubber stamp from Penny Black called Snowy.  I had drooled over this stamp for soooooo long when I would see it on others' cards.  Then maybe 2 years ago (?), I finally bought it...and this is the first time I have stamped him up.  Isn't that terrible?  Poor Snowy, just sitting there all that time, waiting to be inked up.  Well, now that I have rectified that, hopefully he can forgive me.  😊  I colored his hat and scarf using 2 Prismacolor markers, and then used my 08 white Gelly Roll pen to dot all over those areas to add texture.  I love doing that to winter hats and scarves!  Then for even MORE texture, I used white puffy paint on the white areas of the hat.  I love doing that too!  Such a fun look.  Before I forget, I gave Snowy some shadows using BG10.

I glued the panel to a piece of Recollections navy card stock, and then glued that to a 110lb. top fold card base, and called it done.  I didn't want to cover anything up with a sentiment, so that will just have to go on the inside.

Thanks so much for stopping by...don't forget to stop by the CCAYR blog to see what the rest of the DT has made to inspire you to COOL IT!

Until next time,
Take Care, and God Bless!

~Marie~

  5. Gorgeous! Love that foiled frame. Need to go take a look at Bugaboo and see if they still have it :-) Snowy is adorable! Yes, I have stamps that I had to have and then have done nothing with them for longer than I care to admit. It happens with my dies too :-( But like you, I'll get to them and then be happy I did :-)
    Happy crafting.
