BUGABOO SATURDAY RECIPE CHALLENGE -- NEW TECHNIQUE, OR ONE I RARELY USE --OCTOBER 31, 2020

Hey there friends!  Happy Saturday!  I hope you are continuing to stay safe and healthy.  Today at the Catch the Bug blog, we're looking for some new techniques, or ones you don't do very often.  For my card, I chose to do some "paper stripping," as Laura Bassen calls it.  In other words, I used different paper strips to create the background of my card:

I actually have never attempted this technique before, but now that I finally have, I WILL be doing it again.  I was super intimidated by the idea of laying my strips down and then not having them look right.  I think as long as you are working with coordinating papers, your background will turn out!  The strips I used all come from Recollections 8.5x11 paper packs geared toward Christmas, along with black.  I just used my guillotine trimmer to trim them down to various widths, with the black ones being really thin.  I used a piece of cheap white cardstock and my ATG gun to adhere them down in a diagonal pattern, as they say that is the most forgiving.  After filling the cheap cardstock up with the strips, I used my trimmer again to cut off all the extra around the edges.  Then I used a Spellbinders Card Creator die to cut a panel for my A2 card base, leaving a nice white border all the way around.
The image square was backed with another black square to make it stand out.  The snowman image I used comes from the Christmas Blocks stamp, and I colored it with alcohol markers.
I chose a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Christmas Dreams stamp set, and white heat embossed it onto a scrap of the red cardstock strips.  I also matted this onto black.  To add some sparkle and interest (because hey, it's a Christmas card, after all), I added Stickles to the outer edges of his face, clear Wink of Stella to the whole sentiment panel, and white gel pen accents.

If you enlarge the above picture, you can see the Stickles.

And this one really show off the sparkle of the Wink of Stella.

COLLECTED CRAFTY COLLABS -- OCTOBER EDITION -- THANKFUL & FOIL/SHINY

Hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!  I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy.  Today, my crafty friends and I are at it again...digging through our stashes of crafty things we have been collecting and NOT using.  For this month's theme and optional product or technique, we are being THANKFUL, and using FOIL/SHINY things to show it!

Ok, so for the supplies I used that I have been hoarding saving for a rainy day, that would be the panel embossed with a Love Nicole hearts folder (from my scraps), and the Duck Brand Deco Metallic Laminate that I used for the top layer of the sentiment.  This is also the first time I have used this particular die from this sentiment set from Love Nicole.  I hadn't used my Spellbinders classic hearts or scalloped hearts in a good while (since January, maybe?).  I did use a brand spanking new product, and that is the Crackling Campfire Oxide ink, and I combined it with Scattered Straw and Spiced Marmalade for a definitely fall-inspired color scheme.  I splattered the panel with bronze Perfect Pearls mixed with water.  I must say, I definitely love that look!  The sequins in the see-through shaker are unlabeled from my stash.  I used 2 layers of foam tape between the card base and the panel, and treated the sides of the foam tape with powder from my anti static bag.  You can see how well that worked for me, LOL!  The sentiment was also cut 3 times from scraps of 110lb. white card stock to give it more presence.
