SQUIRRELS GONE NUTZ -- A NEW ADVENTURE BEGINS! -- JANUARY 20, 2021

Hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!  For those of you that stop by regularly, you may have seen the posts over the past 6 or 7 months that revolved around being a part of the Collected Crafty Collabs hop with my Squirrel Sisters; Karen, V, and Anna.  We made some awesome new friends, and the bond among the Squirrels became stronger.  Because of this, we have decided to continue hopping, but with a bit of a different plan in place...AND a fun new name:   SQUIRRELS GONE NUTZ!  A few of our newfound friends wanted to join in to be "Honorary Squirrels."  So please join me in welcoming Bory, Lounon, and Natasha to our crazy group!  We are 7 "NUTTY" Squirrels, out to have a good time making pretty things!

For our first monthly installment, and in keeping with the start of a new year, we are concentrating on all things "NEW."  New house, new baby, new ideas; wherever the thought of something new takes you! And, to be difficult, I suggested the supply of "leftovers."  No, not as in last night's supper, but the leftovers we have laying around in our crafty areas.  You get the idea.

I decided I wanted to find a quote that spoke to me about new beginnings, so I scoured the internet.  I finally came upon one that fit the leftover image I planned to use, and here is my card:

This cutie from Simon Says Stamp's Snow Much stamp set was one of the many snowman images I had stamped and cut out with my Brother Scan N Cut when I was prepping for my last Collected Crafty Collab project.  At the time, I had GRAND PLANS of making a boat-load of cards for the occasion; but time got away from me, as it often does.  When I found this quote, I knew they were the perfect match!   The patterned paper was left sitting on my desk from another project, so it went onto the card too!  I found a nice piece of pastel blue glitter card stock to mat the paper with for some subtle sparkle.  I typed the quote into the Silhouette design program using the Amarillo font, and used the offset tool to create an outline to cut out with my Cameo.  Both the snowman and sentiment were popped up with Scotch foam tape.  As a final touch, I added Crystal Stickles to the edges of the snowman.

COLOUR CRAZY DT -- POLKADOODLES -- JANUARY 15, 2021

Hey there friends!  Welcome back to my blog, and happy Friday!  Today I am sharing the card I made for this week's Colour Crazy Challenge, which is sponsored by Polkadoodles.

And here is my card:

This image is called Glass Half Full, and isn't she cute?    I think she looks like she is really thinking about something that's going on in her life ATM.  And of course, she needed to have some ginger ale to sip on as she's thinking things through.  I colored her with alcohol markers in colors that matched the patterned paper, which comes from the Pink & Main Preppy Brights 6x6 paper pad.  The glitter paper is from the DCWV Jewels glitter cardstock 6x6 pad.  I matted each layer with black cardstock to make them POP!  The only other thing I added was some clear Wink of Stella to her eyelids and lips, and also to the ginger ale, and the flower center.  I will add a sentiment later when I know where she will be going!  Here's a close up of the image.

BUGABOO 11TH BIRTHDAY BASH -- DAY 3 -- JANUARY 11, 2021

Hello friends and welcome back!  I appreciate you stopping by today!  😀 Today is Day 3 of Bugaboo Stamps 11th Birthday Bash, and it is Monday, so that means it's also Anything But a Card (ABC) day.

Here is my creation -- a jumbo sized tag:
My tag measures 4 1/8" wide by 5 1/2" tall, and I designed it in Silhouette Studio.  The cloud layers were die cut using Puffy Cloud Borders, and the ground layer was die cut using Stitched Hillside Borders, both from Lawn Fawn..  I used Oxide inks in Tumbled Glass (sky), Shaded Lilac, and Worn Lipstick (clouds), and Cracked Pistachio (grass) to add lots of pastel colors.  I also added a vellum cloud layer between the two colored layers.
Now, the cute image is Bugaboo's Birthday Hedgie 01, and I also sized and cut him out using my Silhouette Studio software.  He's colored with alcohol markers, and I added "hairy" details using a colored pencil.  I also added more detail to the image by adding clear Wink of Stella to the balloon, and then covering it and his little nose in a layer of Glossy Accents.  After that was dry, I used a white Gelly Roll pen to add in the shine marks.  I also added the white gel pen to his eyes, and to his party hat.  You should be able to see these details better in this close up pic:

For a final touch, I added Star Dust Stickles along the stitched edges of the clouds.

WELCOME TO DAY 1 OF BUGABOO'S 11TH ANNUAL BIRTHDAY BASH -- JANUARY 9, 2021

Hello my friends, and welcome back to my blog!  Today's post is all about birthdays and woodland animals, because that is the theme for Bugaboo's 11th Birthday Bash!  We will be celebrating all week long with lots of projects using Jodie's adorable images pertaining to woodland critters.  Here is what I made for today:

I created a slimline card again...I am really loving this style!  This one is pretty simple, with just the scalloped layer and the image layer on the card base.  I inked the edges of the scalloped layer with Mermaid Lagoon Oxide ink, and then used alcohol markers to color the image to coordinate.  Both of these layers were designed and cut using my Silhouette Cameo.  The adorable image is Mouse - CandleTo give him some personality, I added white dots to his eyes, and Glossy Accents to his nose.  When that dries, I will go over the white dot on the image with white gel pen to bring it back to prominence.  The sentiment is from That Is All from WPlus9, and I stamped it with my MISTI using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.  The sequins are from a Christmas pack I got from Michael's.  Oh yeah, and the silver stripes (which are hard to see!) on the candle were colored using a silver Sharpie marker.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! BUGABOO FREEBIE FRIDAY -- JANUARY 1, 2021

Hello friends, and Happy New Year!  I sincerely hope that 2021 is going to be a way better year for everyone.  To start things off on the right foot, it's Freebie Friday at Catch the Bug, and here is what I made:

This fella is called Lil Snowman, and he is this week's freebie.  If you don't already have him, you can snatch him up this week!  I colored him up with alcohol markers, and then blinged him up using Star Dust Stickles.  I also used white gel pen to add personality.  The patterned paper comes from the Whimsy Christmas 12x12 paper pad from Recollections.  I really like the bright and colorful papers in this pad, so I want to use it quite a bit this year.  Both patterned papers are matted with red card stock from Recollections.  I used Spellbinders Square Swatches for the first time to die cut the red snowflake paper.  It doesn't show up very well against the red mat...I probably should have inked the edges with some white ink before adhering the 2 together.  😐  Oh well!  The sentiment comes from Sizzix/Tim Holtz Christmas Phrases set 2, and I cut it 3 times from the bright green card stock, and adhered the layers together for more presence.  I added a couple of layers of Wink of Stella on the top layer.  My card is a 5.5x5.5 inch square.
