HONEYPIE OUT AND ABOUT BY POLKADOODLES - DIGI CHOOSDAY WEEK 34 - AUGUST 23, 2022

Hello crafty friends!  Welcome back to my blog.  Today, I have a card for you for the Digi Choosday challenge:

The DT challenge is to use YELLOW and ORANGE.  I chose the adorably sweet Honeypie Out and About image, which I colored with alcohol markers.  I decided to keep this card design pretty simple, cutting the image out with a Spellbinder's oval die, and mounting it onto a panel of orange foil cardstock that was dry embossed with the Fall Leaves Swirl embossing folder from Darice.  In keeping with the Autumn feel, I mounted the embossed panel onto a kraft panel die cut with the Nested Scalloped Stitched rectangle dies from Gina Marie Designs.  I decided to leave it without a sentiment until I need it for something.

SQUIRRELZ STASH BASH -- AUGUST 21, 2022

Hello crafty friends, and welcome back to my blog!  Today is an exciting day for me as the Squirrel Squad is getting the band back together!  We took a couple of months off, but now we're back and ready to roll!

So, in case you have forgotten, we are trying to bust through all of those supplies we have squirreled away, and at the same time work with some themes or techniques that we have never done before or haven't done in a while.  For this month, we are still holding onto Summer (although I am ready for Fall!) as our theme and using die cuts as our technique/supply.  Here is my card:

The first part in the making of this card was choosing a stencil, and this one is called Whirlpool from A Colorful Life DesignsI used Distress Oxides in Broken China and Tumbled Glass and a blending brush to ink up the design.  I cut the panel down with a Spellbinders Card Creator die from Set A.  Then I set about die cutting the Pair of Popsicles from MFT, but I wanted to make them look as if they were melting in the summer heat, so I cut each of the main pieces 3 times and used the wavy die in the set to achieve that look.  To enhance that effect even more, I added Glossy Accents to each layer of the popsicles.  The sentiment comes from Spellbinders Clear Stamp of the Month set for July 2022 called Have a Chill Summer.  I stamped it with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink, using my MISTI to ensure a great impression.  The stenciled panel is glued down flat to the card base, while the popsicles are popped up on some foam tape.  And that's it!

LIL PATCH OF CRAFTY FRIENDS #188 -- SPONSORED BY STREAMSIDE STUDIOS -- AUGUST 21, 2022

Hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!  It's the 3rd Sunday of the month, and that means it's time for another Anything Goes challenge at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, hosted by Team B!  This time we are being sponsored by a new company:

**Sponsor**

Streamside Studios

Prize: 3 digi stamps/sets up to a $15 value (!)

I chose this adorable set called Merry Little Christmas and used the adorable little snowman (of course! 😁), along with this sweet sentiment.

I am basing my card design on this one from Freshly Made Sketches
Unfortunately, this one is now over, but I had really fallen in love with it for my card design!  I tweaked it a little bit by adding the MFT Fine Finish Edge die cut along the right side of the strip in the sketch and adding the sentiment on an oval with a scalloped oval behind it.  The purple cardstock for the edge die and the scalloped oval die were cut from scraps of white cardstock and inked direct-to-paper with the Wilted Violet oxide ink pad.  The holographic snowflake strip was a scrap from the Northern Lights Recollections 12x12 paper pad.  In keeping with the purple color scheme I had going, I colored the snowman with BV000, BV00, and BV01 Copic markers, along with a colorless blender for softening in the centers.  I colored the rest of the image in Cool grays, with just a bit of BV02 for the berry on his hat.  I like that this guy is a bit quirky but still cute, and I love the swirliness of the lettering in the sentiment!

DIGI DOODLE STUDIOS DT SHARE -- EMBELLISH IT! -- AUGUST 19, 2022

Hello friends, and happy Friday!  I hope you are all doing well and have had a good week.  As always, I am ready for the weekend!  Today, however I have a card for you featuring the sweet Angel Faro image:

I love this image, and I think it can be used for many occasions.  I had fun coloring with my alcohol markers and using the Silhouette Designer Edition software to create matting layers that perfectly matched the pretty plaid paper.  The DT challenge this month is to "Embellish It," which I didn't do a *whole* lot of on this card, mainly because I was following the Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 sketch again, this time turning it once to the right.

I did venture a little bit out of my comfort zone and used my V01 Copic marker to color the glitter paper I used for the strip and the heart.  I used the chisel end and was careful to just dab the marker onto the glitter paper.  I think it turned out pretty good!  All the paper layers are adhered flat, while the image panel and the heart are popped up on foam tape.

ABC CHRISTMAS -- P FOR PINK, Q FOR QUARTERS, AND R FOR REINDEER -- AUGUST 10, 2022

Hello friends, and welcome back to my blog! Can you believe that we are in August already? 😲 I hope you are all doing well and ready for the new challenge at the ABC Christmas challenge blog.  This month's challenge is 3-fold, P for Pink, Q for Quarters, and R for Reindeer.  Here is my card:

At first, I was a bit stumped as to what the "quarters" part of the challenge meant, until I saw some of the other DT cards (those ladies are always farther ahead than me!) ...and then I knew EXACTLY what image I had to use for my card!  Sadly, it is a Bugaboo image, so I have no way to link it; but it is an image that I still enjoy working with.  I used the Silhouette Design program to size the image to fit a 5.5" square card with a nice border around the edge.  I also added some stitches around the image, but they don't really show up very well.  The scalloped card base was also created in the software program, and everything was cut with my Cameo.  I used alcohol markers as my coloring medium, and I added details with a white gel pen and the clear Wink of Stella brush pen.  The image panel was glued down flat, and the card is done!  I killed 3 birds with one stone in this challenge - HA!

JUMP FOR JOY WINNIE CELEBRATIONS 3 BY POLKADOODLES - DIGI CHOOSDAY WEEK 32 - AUGUST 9, 2022

Hey there friends!  Welcome back to my blog.  Today begins a new challenge at Digi Choosday, and the DT theme is Back to School.  Here is the card I created:

I used this adorable Jump for Joy Winnie Celebrations 3 image.  She is super excited about going back to school to learn new things and to hang out with her friends!   She even has her stack of books ready to go!  That seems like a lot of books for just starting the school year!   I colored her with Copic markers and placed her on a background created with a patterned paper and elements from Miss Kate's Cuttables.  That's pretty much the only stuff I have that is "back to school" related, LOL!  I'm hoping that someday this card will come in handy when my granddaughter starts to go to school. 😊

DIGI DOODLE STUDIOS AUGUST NEW RELEASE -- RELAX & UNWIND -- AUGUST 5, 2022

Hello friends, and Happy Friday!  I'm so glad you have come back for another visit to my blog!  Today I am sharing a card made with an image from the NEW RELEASE at Digi Doodle Studios called Relax & Unwind.  We can all use some of that, can't we?

For my card, I chose to work with the adorable ChanilleShe's so sweet, just sitting there listening to her music.  I used a couple of papers from the Lawn Fawn Spring Fling 6x6 paper pad and used alcohol markers to color her to match.  I couldn't find a cardstock that matched the papers though, so I just colored the edges of the matting layers with the BG11 Copic marker.  I followed this sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 for my card layout:

I pretty much followed this to a "T", except I substituted some layered hearts for the flower.  The word "enjoy" comes from Honey Bee Stamps Bitty Buzzwords die set, and I colored this and the hearts with alcohol markers also.  The thin pink ribbon was a scrap I have had laying around for a LONG TIME, and the enamel dots are a new acquisition from Hobby Lobby.
