Hey there my crafty friends, welcome back to my blog! It's that time of the month where a bunch of us crafters get together to work on using up those "squirreled away" supplies! July's theme is Outdoors, with the option to use patterned paper.
Here is what I came up with:
My Squirrel Sisters may or may not know, but I am determined to make as many Christmas cards as I can with our monthly hop themes! 😁 LOL I thought this month's Outdoor theme and the option to use patterned paper was the perfect chance to use these ADORABLE Mice on Ice from Lawn Fawn. I had used some of the sentiments in other cards, but this is my first time inking up these cuties. I'm not a big fan of mice in real life, but Lawn Fawn's mice are too cute for words!
On my card, these mice are skating on a pond of silver contact paper. It's the same "ice" I used for this card; just the leftover piece I've had sticking to my maglite. I knew it would come in handy someday! LOL Waste not, want not...isn't that how the saying goes? My piece of patterned paper comes from the 12x12 Northern Lights Recollections paper pad. I stamped the mice out onto a scrap of Recollections 110lb. white card stock using Lawn Fawn Jet Black alcohol marker friendly ink. For the mouse fur, I used brown and warm gray Prismacolor markers. The scarves and tiny ice skates were colored with R85 and BV11 Copics. I used my Scan N Cut (YAY!!) to cut them out, and popped them up on teeny pieces of foam tape. The sentiment, which does come from the same stamp set, was stamped in Versamark ink using my MISTI, and heat embossed with WOW! Metallic Silver Sparkle embossing powder. That looks so much better in real life than it does in the pictures I took, believe me! I haven't done this yet, but I plan to stamp a mouse on the inside with the sentiment "May the little things bring you happiness."

Super cute card Marie!! Love the contact paper ice!! So clever! 😊
ReplyDeleteHow cute these mice are! Love your lovely scene, Marie! Totally agree, you are the queen of Christmas cards :)
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling you would try to pull a Christmas all the time plan! Can't wait to see what you do when the theme is Fall! LOL And I don't know if my Squirrel Sisters know my plan... to use a squirrel in every hop! 🤣 Your card is absolutely adorable and the ice is simply ingenious! I love the fact that it was a scrap squirreled away from a previous project too!!! So fitting! And the mice look so cute in their mauve and lavender scarves 😉 Don't forget to link this baby up cause its a challenge winner, for sure!
ReplyDeleteYour card is so cute ! You did a great use of the paper :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute scene! The mice are so adorable. - Charlotte/Lady Joyful
ReplyDeleteMarie - what an adorable holiday card!! Those little mice are too cute! When it comes to cutting out stamped images, I always turn to my ScanNCut, too! If you haven't tried it, you might want to use "Direct Cut" to also cut out blank outlines of your stamps to use to glue to the back of the colored image. A great way to raise the images off the card surface for dimension! I usually cut two extra outlines after I've cut out the image itself. Thank you for sharing your darling card with us at Double Trouble for our "Christmas in July" challenge! -Donna
