BUGABOO HOLIDAY CHAOS -- DAY 4 -- BINGO AND A FLASH FREEBIE! DECEMBER 15, 2020

Hello friends, and happy Tuesday!  Today marks Day 4 of Bugaboo's HOLIDAY CHAOS WEEK, and we are still playing reindeer games!  Today's game is BINGO, and here's the card:

Here is the card I created:

I used the Flash Freebie, which is called Kidz ReindeerThis cutie is only free for 24 hours, so if you don't already have him, you'd better snatch him up!  If you look carefully at the BINGO card, you will see that I did not play this round very well AT ALL!  😆  For my card, I used Designer paper, Bugaboo image, die cut, sparkle, and a sentiment.  OOPS!  Better luck next time!
My patterned paper comes from a 12x12 Recollections paper pad called Whimsy Christmas, and I personally think it is just perfect for this cute image, especially the Christmas light paper.  I die cut the tree using a die from the Teresa Collins set called Thankful Holiday.  The ornaments were cut from gold glitter paper using the smallest of the 2011 Heirloom Ornaments from Spellbinders.  I also used this gold glitter paper to cut the star for the tree, and the ornament topper for my sentiment.  That light bulb die comes from MFT's Christmas Lights die set.  The sentiment itself is from MFT's Festive Friends stamp set, and was white heat embossed using Versamark ink and Snow embossing powder from Recollections.
My cute little reindeer guy was colored using alcohol markers, with white gel pen used to add highlights.  There is Star Dust Stickles added to the snowy ground, and to the snowflakes.  I have to say that I am super pleased with how this guy came out!  😍😍

If you enlarge this picture, you can see the Stickles better.

BUGABOO HOLIDAY CHAOS -- REINDEER GAMES -- DAY 1 -- SATURDAY DECEMBER 12, 2020

Hello my friends, and welcome back to my blog!  I hope your weekend is starting off well; at the time this post goes live, I will be working some OT.  It's only 4 hours, so hopefully time will fly!

ANYWAY, today is the first day of Bugaboo's HOLIDAY CHAOS WEEK!  Are ya'll ready to have some fun? This year's theme is REINDEER GAMES, and that is also the main theme for today's project:

I made another slimline card!  I am having a great time making this style of card, so expect to see more of these on the old blog.  This one is the "standard" 8.5" x 3.5" size.  The images that I used are the Deer image and the Sign It - North Pole image.  I wanted to create a scene with Rudolph and Clarice where they were headed off to join the Reindeer Games.  To make Clarice, I used the same deer image and cut off the antlers, and also added more spots to her hind end.  I found a bow in the Rawr stamp set from Lawn Fawn that was PERFECT for Clarice's head!  For the sign, I figured all the signs at the North Pole would look just as fancy and frilly as the actual North Pole sign, so that's how I colored it.  I added the text using my Silhouette program.  All images were colored using alcohol markers.  With the North Pole being a snowy place, I added lots of Star Dust Stickles to the sign also.
Speaking of my Silhouette, the scalloped layer is a cut file that I bought from the Silhouette store and sized to fit this card.  The snowy ground was cut using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Hillside Borders, and I cut it from ink jet printable glitter paper from Recollections.  Of course my pictures don't do this paper any justice, but it actually matches the Star Dust Stickles nicely.  The die cut snowman up in the top right corner was cut from the same glitter paper, and I cut his hat and scarf from white and colored them with markers.  The die set these come from is MFT's Scenic Snow Globe.  I thought adding him up there was just the right touch, as I am alluding to Sam the Snowman from the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer show we all grew up watching every year.  Always my favorite!
My sky was blended using Tumbled Glass Oxide ink, Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes, and a stencil I made from Lawn Fawn's Puffy Cloud Borders dies.

BUGABOO FREEBIE FRIDAY -- DEDE REINDEER -- DECEMBER 11, 2020

Hello friends, and thank you for visiting with me again today!  It's Friday (yay!), and even though I am working some overtime tomorrow, it's still the weekend!  Only 2 more weeks until Christmas Day!  Where did these last 3 months go??  I know for sure that I have no idea where they went, but in the spirit of Christmas, I'm here to share my card using this week's Bugaboo Freebie Friday image:

I am a bit late in getting this project done, so you may not see it right away at the Catch the Bug blog post, but it will be there soon!  This is DeDe Reindeer, and doesn't she look ready to get her party on?  I colored her up with alcohol markers, and used lots of colored gel pens to highlight different areas of the image for a festive feel.  The string of ornaments she is holding was done with Stickles gold glitter glue.  I added a panel of gold shimmer paper to the card base, and then used patterned papers from my favorite Recollections 8.5x 11 Christmas paper pack from a couple of years ago called Winter Frost.  I thought these papers looked elegant enough to go with DeDe's attire.

COLOUR CRAZY DT -- POLKADOODLES -- DECEMBER 4, 2020

Hello friends, and Happy Holidays!  I'm here today to share my Colour Crazy DT project, and this week's sponsor is Polkadoodles!

When Ruth asked us to request an image to use from this sponsor, I just HAD to pick this ADORABLE Cute Snowmen and Dog image.  Being a lover of all things snowman-related, how could I pick any other image?  😃  I colored these cuties using alcohol markers, and added lots of Star Dust Stickles to the snow, the snowmen, and the white parts of their hats.  The image panel was cut using the third largest die from set A of Spellbinders Card Creator set.  I cut a light blue panel with my paper trimmer to create just a small border around the image panel, and then mounted it onto this Recollections patterned paper using foam tape.  The patterned paper also has a thin light blue mat.  The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Christmas Dreams stamp set, and was stamped with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

CCAYR -- NO CARDS, MAKE A GIFT -- DECEMBER 1, 2020

Hey friends, Happy Holidays!  It's getting down to the wire now when it comes to making cards or gifts for the holidays.  How is your stash?  I have yet to count how  many cards I have ready, but when it comes to handmade gifts, I really don't make that many.  If you are in need of some gift making inspiration, this month's Christmas Crafts All Year Round challenge is for you!  Our theme this month is:  No Cards,  Make a Gift.  Here is what I made:

I decided to make some ornaments to give as gifts.  The stamps I used are from Tim Holtz/Stamper's Anonymous and they are from the Carved Christmas 3 set.  These stamps are really cute, and I want to get the other sets in the collection.  I stamped them using Moonlight White pigment ink, and then heat embossed them with Recollections Snow detail embossing powder.  I inked the edges of the red card stock with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink, and the green card stock with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.   I gave each ornament a gold foil card stock mat,  and also cut several layers of that shape out of plain white card stock for stability, and to sandwich the ribbon hanger in between.  The more square-shaped ornaments were die cut using Spellbinders Labels One and Scalloped Labels One.  The sleigh ornament was die cut using Labels 8.

BUGABOO NEW RELEASE -- SNOWFLAKES -- DECEMBER 1, 2020

Hey there friends!  Happy Holidays!  Today I want to share the card I created for Bugaboo's New Release over at the Catch the Bug blog:

This guy is called Snowflakes, and hopefully he'll be in the shop soon!  I merged the image into my Silhouette program so I could work with him, and decided I would add him to the front of a shaker card.  I edited the image to get rid of the surrounding snowflakes, and gave him a cutting outline that still incorporated the little squiggles of snow on the ground.  That way he wouldn't look like he was floating in midair on the card front.
After he was cut out, I changed things up a bit by using my Tombow markers to color him. And being a snowman, he needs to sparkle, so Star Dust stickles were added on top of the blue mostly on his left side.  I added just a couple white gel pen accents to make him come alive.
I cut the front panel using the largest die in the Spellbinders Card Creator Set B, and then used the 3rd largest Spellbinders Classic circle to out out my shaker window.  To frame it, I used silver foil card stock from Michael's, the same circle die, and the 2nd largest Spellbinders Petite Scalloped Circle die.  I'm sure you are all well aware of how to create a shaker, so I won't go into those details, but the shaker bits are comprised of a combination of Distress Rock Candy glitter and 3 different Sparkle Blends:  Blue Blizzard, Frozen, and the Nov 2020 Fan Mix.  I just thought all 3 of these would look awesome in a shaker, and this way, I'm not using up all of one kind!  That satisfies my hoarder tendencies.  😆  The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Winter Fox mini set, and was stamped in VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

Some other views:

Here's a better picture of the Sparkle Blend shaker bits!

COLLECTED CRAFTY COLLABS -- NOVEMBER EDITION -- CHRISTMAS AND/OR TEXTURE PASTE/MOUSSE

Hey friends!  It's that time of the month again, where a bunch of my crafty friends and I dig around in our stashes to find and use some of those supplies we have been "squirreling away" for a rainy day.  You should have arrived here from Val's Instagram. Well, today may or may not be a rainy day, but I'm still here to share what I made for our theme this month:

This card was a fun one for me to make.  My first step was to ink blend the Strathmore Bristol smooth  6x6 panel with Chipped Sapphire and Wilted Violet Oxide inks.  After I dried it with my heat tool, I used my never-before-opened Studio 490 Wendy Vecchi embossing paste with the Echo Park Jingle  Bell Snowflakes stencil.  I quickly removed the stencil and placed it and my palette knife in some warm soapy water.  Then I sprinkled Distress Rock Candy glitter onto the paste.  I left the panel to dry while I worked on die cutting the pieces for this adorable gnome that comes from the Gina K/Thermoweb Gnome for the Holidays kit.  If you haven't seen this sold-out kit, it comes with a die set to make gnomes and trees, a 6x8 stamp set, a detail stencil, and Fancy Foils in Glimmering Gold and Sparkling Silver.  I truly wanted the kit mostly for the gorgeous foils, but I can definitely see me making more cards with cute gnomes!

Anyway, I cut the pieces I wanted all from 110lb. white Recollections cardstock.  I colored the hat and body pieces using the same Oxide inks, and used my alcohol markers to color the nose, beard, and shoes.  I did use the coordinating stencil to apply Star Dust Stickles to the hat, and to the ball at the end of the hat.  When my panel was dry, I cut it down using the largest die from the Spellbinders Card Creator Set B.  I also cut a matting layer from navy cardstock using the largest die from the A set.  I assembled my gnome and decided that he looked best in the lower left corner of the card.  My lovely Squirrel Sister Karen (misplaced mojo) suggested that I add the vellum snowflake behind him, and I'm glad she did!  I love the added layer of texture, and that it doesn't really cover up too much of the background.  For the sentiment, I used Sizzix/Tim Holtz Christmas Sentiments 1 for the die cut "Merry," which I cut from the same white cardstock 3 times.  The top layer was softly ink blended with Wilted Violet Oxide ink from the bottom up to create an ombre look.  Which I happened to like the look of much better before I continued on by adding Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to it.  I think those 2 products washed out the ink.  Oh well, it's done now!  Here's a couple different pics:

Hopefully you can see the glitter on the snowflakes!
