Hey there friends! How are you doing on this fine fall Saturday in October? The weather here in PA is overcast, but the temperatures are nice, and we are spending the weekend at Chad's brother's place, smoking some meat and hanging out. I hope you all have some nice, relaxing plans for this weekend!
I'm also hanging out with a few crafty friends today, and we are having a mini Halloween hop! For this hop, you should have arrived here from my sweet Squirrel Sister Virginia's blog: Passions and Distractions. Now, I'm usually not much of a Halloween card maker, but this year, I am ending up making quite a few. Not that I don't have enough STAMPS to make Halloween cards; although I am lacking in the patterned paper department. It's just that I usually choose to focus mainly on the Christmas cards, since that is my favorite holiday. ANYWAY, I'm not here today to talk about Christmas, am I? Here is my contribution to the BOO CREW hop:
I got this digi from my Little Scraps of Heaven file. I searched for it on the site, but can't find it for sale. I searched the blog and found it offered as a freebie way back in 2016. Of course, that is when I picked it up. I apologize if this cutie is unavailable, but Tricia does offer a weekly freebie, so I'm sure there will be something to tickle your fancy! I colored with my usual alcohol markers, and boy, did I find it challenging to color an all black animal! Of course, I used cool grays, but I think my shading of his wings is off. Lesson learned, I guess! The pumpkin was a bit tricky for me as well, since my orange marker selection is limited. I resorted to using a brown marker as my darkest color, and I think it turned out alright. Here's another angle:
As I was in the process of creating this card, I realized that I didn't have any Halloween themed patterned paper in my hoard stash, so I spent some time searching the internet for some free ones. It took me awhile, but I finally managed to find a collection that had this CUTE striped bat paper in it. To tie my image even more into fitting in with this paper, I colored his eyes to match the green. I matted the patterned paper onto a black piece of card stock, and also matted the image oval on a black scalloped oval. All the layers were die cut using Spellbinders dies. The sentiment is a wooden one that I have in my stash of physical Halloween stamps. I stamped it using Versamark ink onto the same black card stock, and heat embossed it using Snow embossing powder from Recollections. I cut the sentiment panel using one of the thinner dies in the Spellbinders card creator sets, and then added a flag end on the left side using scissors. The scalloped oval and sentiment are both popped up on foam tape, while the black panel, patterned paper piece, and the image oval are adhered flat.
--CHALLENGES--
That's all for me then! Your next stop on this little hop is Charlotte, at The Joyful Soul Creates. I hope you will find lots of inspiration in our little hop today! Thank you so much for stopping by today, and until next time;
Stay Healthy, Take Care, and God Bless!

Super cute, my squirrel sister! And that patterned paper is the perfect touch! I think you did a fine job on your bat, but I know the struggle is real since I had the same issue on my card, but with Prismacolor pencils as the medium. So glad you broke out of your Christmas marathon to join us in this Halloween hop!!!
